Content that Clicks—Sticks!: 5 Tips for Impactful Writing

The other day, we were interviewing a fellow entrepreneur about how personal branding is the new business card. We agreed that in today's digital age, standing out and forming meaningful connections depend so much on the stories we share.

A quip that stuck in my brain as we were catching up over coffee was, "Logos schmogos, humans crave humans.” Our friend talked about how a social media post showcasing her latest business wins had gone viral, simply because it highlighted the journey in a compelling way. Her story resonated on a personal level with her audience. It underscored for us that stories bind us together and drive impact as entrepreneurs.

The key is being brave enough to share our experiences authentically. How can we expect others to care about our brand if we don't share the personal challenges, lessons, and triumphs that shaped who we are? Vulnerability forges trust. Storytelling builds community. This is top of mind for us right now as we map out our content strategies for the year ahead. We want to prioritize storytelling that spotlights our humanity as much as our skills. Because, in the end, nothing is more universal than the power of a great story to inspire and connect.

Crafting content that truly resonates with your audience isn’t easy. But nailing it can grow your influence and make a real impact. Plus, it just feels so damn good! As fellow entrepreneurs, business builders, marketers, and writers, we are sharing today tips on how to create content that clicks with your readers and sticks in their minds. Your goal is to make a real impact. This helps you grab and hold your audience's attention, ultimately growing your influence and making a difference in their lives. A little every day or week goes a long way.

  1. Know Your Audience Inside Out
One of the most critical aspects of creating content that clicks and sticks is getting inside your audience's heads. Be one with them. Draw on your life experiences. Ask yourself—what do they care about? What keeps them up at night? Really dig into understanding their unique needs and desires. When your content speaks directly to them or from your heart, that's how you strike gold.

  2. Craft Captivating Headlines
In a world flooded with content, your headline is your foot in the door. Hooking them with killer headlines is key. It’s a pick-up line with the best of intentions. Keep it short, intriguing, and on point. A solid headline reels your audience in and leaves them hungry for more of your sweet, sweet content. Not clickbait-y, but attention-grabbing, leaving them hungry and intrigued by the idea to follow. It winks, “Check this out.”

  3. Engage with Stories and Emotions
Share real-life case studies and get personal to highlight your message. Vulnerability connects. If your content elicits laughs or tears, you've got ‘em. People connect with stories and emotions. Draw on life! Don't be afraid to reveal your own vulnerabilities; it can make you more relatable and trustworthy.

  4. Keep it Clear and Concise
Brevity is your friend. Avoid crazy jargon or rambling. Break up long blocks of text with bullet points or graphics. Clarity is 🔑 so your readers easily digest your content. Make sure your readers or viewers can easily understand your message and take away actionable insights. Bullet points, subheadings, and visual aids can help break up the text and make your content more digestible.

  5. Encourage Interaction and Feedback
Foster community and engagement. Encourage your audience to interact and share feedback. Making them feel heard keeps them coming back for more. Content that clicks and sticks isn't just a one-way street. Write in way that racks up comments, questions, and discussions. Respond to their feedback and build relationships with your readers or viewers. People are more likely to remember and return to content that makes them feel heard and valued.

Entrepreneurs have the power to make real change. For those of us both from diversities and in entrepreneurship, our unique worldviews give us an advantage.

When you have to work harder to achieve more, there’s more to draw from. Write and create from there. We can pull from our rich Hispanic or black cultural heritage or our struggles as female or LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs to bring to bear stories and experiences that create content that inspires. Hell, just the craziness of our day-to-day is enough to pique interest and, with the right mindset, find humor that connects. Laughter in the face of adversity can actually inspire.

Diversity deepens compassion. It widens one's lens. By pulling from our varied vantage points, we can craft stories that enlighten. By embracing our differences, we gain special insight into the human condition. This empowers us to produce content that resonates at a deeper level. Let your distinct perspective be your guide. Let your multifaceted roots strengthen your voice. Diversity nourishes creativity. Let it flow through you.
